Student Apartment Renewal Issue

I live in a student apartment and I had signed a renewal when I thought I would be a student for a full school year. They put a deadline for subleasing at the end of September last year so I couldn't really think much about it and situation changed where I am now graduating in December, meaning that I will no longer be a student after fall semester of this year which is a requirement. I am now in March and trying to cancel my renewal before it starts in June but they won't let me terminate it and told me to find someone to sublease through the whole year that I plan to not stay in for the lease. They have no early termination clause and I live in Illinois so I don't know if I am very screwed now or if I have a chance to get them to cancel my renewal, mind you they are having a hard time finding someone to sign for a different room in the apartment for the next year (2 bed, 1 bath).
