yes, you can have baby fever and still not want kids
I dont want kids. I have wanted a hysterecomy since i was 14. i very very strongly dont want kids.
I also love kids! I adore them! they are adorable. I feel especially protective over tweens and teens bcs i know how hard it is to be that age. Since i got into my 20s, ive had massive baby fever!
But i still am strongly against having my own
I dont like being relied on. I dont like someone else dictating my schedule (i can work that out with a partner and we can find what works best for us and compromise. With a kid, i sort of have to just comply with their needs.) I get annoyed easily. I tutored children in college for a bit to make some extra money and it was 2.5 hours a day 4 days a week. That absolutely exhausted me. I loved those kids and I still miss them but it was incredibly exhausting and i was relieved to quit. I also am an introvert and I think im a bit of a selfish person at times. I also have a lot of mental health issues and I dont want a kid to have to deal with that. When my parents are gone, I want to make sure my disabled brother is taken care of. My currently alive brother comes before hypothetical future children and I am more than willing to be his caretaker. Taking care of disabled adults is difficult already and I want to proiritize having energy for him first.
I like the IDEA of having kids. But i want the fun parts. I dont want to get home after a long shift and take care of kids. deep down, i realize that i want kids to take to disney or to watch barbie movies with or play video games with. I dont want the hard parts AT ALL. Even if i wanted children, id want to be stable mentally and financially and to be mature enough to deal with all that. I am none of those.
i deal w this by having a cabbage patch baby that i fall asleep with. I also have cats. It helps a lot honestly.
