Switching to injections question on dosage
Hello! I am currently on 6mg daily estradiol sublingual split between two doses, 50mg spiro split between two doses, and 200mg prog once a day at night.
I have already been on HRT for nearing 4 years and am looking to switch to mono therapy and drop spiro. I am going to be switching to injections as soon as my pharmacy fills the prescription. My doctor at planned parenthood has prescribed me .25ml of 40mg/1ml estradiol valerate once per week. So that is 10mg per week dosage.
When I have been doing my own research on the transfeminine science website, 6mg per week is the upper end of the “very high” dosage section. Is there a reason my doctor would prescribe me such a high dosage? I also was looking at the injection simulator at the hormone levels for 10mg a week spike insanely high and trough at around 300 which is fine I’m pretty sure but there doesn’t seem to be a need to spike levels that high no? Should i just do 6mg per week instead and see how my levels are in 3 months? I’m just trying to keep my levels more constant and less spiky bc I’m pretty sure that’s better and the simulator puts my peak around 450 and trough around 200 on 6mg per week. I’m going to ask to switch to a 5 day cycle rather than 7 days after I get my levels tested in 3 months at my next appointment. Based on the simulator it looks like a really good sweet spot for would be 5mg every 5 days to keep my peak and trough in safe range but i was told to stick to once every 7 days until my next appointment.
Any thoughts on this, any advice? I understand it’s all just estimates based on averages and that’s why it’s important to get my blood checked to see how it all is for me! Sorry for the wall of text I appreciate yall :3
