Why dont my lucid dreams work?

Every time i’m in a dream and become aware i am, i think “Oh! I’m in a dream! I can do what ever i want! I’ll try and make an orb in my hands.” So i do. The orb never appears. So i do something simple like flying. Instead when i jump i just slightly go higher. One time i lost my phome in my dream, became aware, made my phone come back but then i found the original so i had 2 of my phone. Why can’t i just lucid dream?
