New watcher Season 1

Hi all! New watcher here! Just wondering of y’all’s take on SLC?! I’m on episode 4 season 1 and I’m struggling to get into it! I’m running out of franchises to watch😂. Although the one person who gives me a bad taste is Mary!! The way she speaks about/to her son is soo off! Begging him to go to the army!?! Saying oh ya he can jump on a plane and he may even drown a little! I just find it really weird!
