Turn of Events

I had a TKR (right knee) in June of last year. Everything has been going great.

Last Saturday morning I woke up with my knee hurting worse than it ever did before. It was even worse than any of the pain during recovery (and that crap HURT). I was trying to tough it out until my surgeon’s office opened Monday.

My wife insisted I go to the ER Saturday night and it seems she was right about the seriousness of the situation. They finally flushed it out Wednesday and took cultures. Today they said it was some kind of staph. So now here I am in the hospital awaiting installation of a picc-line on Monday so I can have a IV at home for a while.

They’re acting like it’s pretty serious, and I’m a little nervous. I’m really regretting the replacement now.

This really blows.
