Does a Gith Sorcerer work in lore?

I've beaten BG3 twice and started a lot of playthroughs that resulted in a restart before act 2. I just found it hard to get into them. I just started a new one: A Durge Githyanki Sorcerer and I wondered how that would happen in the lore (or if it even can). All of the Githyanki dialogue options seem very strength and power centric and any time Lae'zel talks about it, it seems she thinks very little of magic. I like to have lore accurate (or at least lore adjacent) characters, so does it make any sense for a Githyanki to be a Sorcerer in reference to the lore?
