What happened to Shinji Hikari’s VA?

I was watching Evangalion and the dub va was Spike Spencer, then took a break from it for like a month and when I continued where I left off it changed to Casey Mongillo, I just wanna know what happened cuz I got so used to Spikes voice for shinji that it makes Casey’s dub of it sound out of place
