Living abroad during war feels 10x heavier
Whenever something happens back home, I feel like we experience it 10x worse living abroad.
My family in Lebanon seems mentally okay and just trying to continue life as normal, but I honestly feel like I’m going through it a lot more here by myself. Maybe it’s the distance, the guilt of not being there, or just constantly reading the news alone. I don’t know if that’s just me.
I’ve been trying to find small ways to cope and feel connected. One thing that weirdly helped my morale was supporting a Lebanese clothing brand I came across called Laymoun. They’re based in Canada and apparently sending 100% of proceeds to families in Lebanon right now.
Even just buying something small made me feel like I was doing something instead of just doom scrolling.
Curious if anyone else here living abroad feels this way too.
