Do you think a country that has a lot of immigration and different cultures brought over from other countries contributes to the identity of the whole country after time?

Like for instance in states New Orleans, I’ve heard from friends in Europe that it wouldn’t be as culturally or architecturally diverse without it being owned by France and Spain. I think it makes it its own thing creating something over generations of different minorities, languages, foods and history made it obviously apart of Americas melting pot.
