building a winter capsule was simple at first until I realized gloves can ruin the entire outfit
I spent most of last autumn trying to finally build a proper winter capsule wardrobe instead of buying different clothes every year. Simple coats, two sweaters that actually fits me well, boots that can work with both jeans and wool trousers. Surprisingly, it felt organized at first.
Then winter finally came and I noticed accessories are apparently the hardest part of the entire thing.
Most especially, gloves.
I live in Manchester so warm gloves are not optional. The problem is every pair I buy either looks cheap or doesn't fit with the rest of my wardrobe. I bought basic wool gloves from Uniqlo that did the same after a month. Tried leather lined ones that somehow made my hands sweat but still felt cold outside.
So I started reading more about materials and people kept recommending cashmere gloves and mittens because they hold warmth better without looking weird. That part makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is the price range.
Some pairs are £20 and others are £120 for what seems like the same thing.
While researching cashmere gloves, I noticed many brands source from the same suppliers listed on platforms like Alibaba, which made it clear that just because a pair is expensive doesn’t mean it’s better, sometimes you’re paying more for branding than actual quality
Now I’m stuck wondering if paying more actually means better quality.
If you’ve found gloves that actually last through winter, I genuinely want to know what brand worked out for you.
