Week after launch and I gotta say, I just stopped having fun

:M2026:Marathon (2026) Discussion

It's been a week of marathon, and the beginning was the most fun I've ever had in a multiplayer game in years. I was hooked right from the get-go. But now, a week later, with the faction quests grinding to a halt and the loot pool increasing in rarity, I've lost my enjoyment. I primarily play duos with my partner, which already puts us at a disadvantage. I'm also playing on ps5, which is not my main input method. My laptop can't run marathon since they don't support laptops and well...I just have to wait until either the AI bubble pops or I find some magical deal somewhere. We play with crossplay off, because I'd really rather not deal with it, and to be honest, it hasn't helped. It seems like after a week, the only ones left playing are those with stacked vaults and high skill ceilings. Nothing wrong with that, but it really sucked the fun out of the game when my extract rate went from a good 40-50% to a solid 15-20%. We've even tried avoiding pvp, but whether it be due to the sound changes or just the narrower playerbase in general, we always end up having a team come up to us, forcing us into a fight (which we lose a good 80% of the time.) Even when we do win fights, third parties come along and just finish us off when we're weak. With so many failure runs, and sponsored kits just not doing the job against blue and purple shields, while we have white shields, it's been nothing but misery for the past three days. It sucks because I really loved the first 15-20 hours I got in, but at this point, the amount of losses is just crushing, especially because we need the resources to get meds, shields, ammo, and guns to stock up, and we can't even extract with that. Even in ABI and Tarkov, I never felt like my extraction ratio ever got this bad.(Never played Arc Raiders.) I really don't know what's going to make things better, maybe the audio change rollback? I really just have no fun playing the game anymore.
