Physics 8B - UC Berkeley Pre-Med

I took physics 8A my last year of Cal. I'm currently in my gap year as a pre-med student. Would it be better to take Physics 8B at CC, CSU, or another UC? I'm a low-income student and would like to factor in cost as well as the likleyhood of doing well in the course. Is it true that medical schools prefer you take these classes at the university you attended?
