2014 f150 eco boost P0012&P0022
Long story short, I bought this truck with about 75k miles on it. Around 90k miles I started hearing a ticking noise on startup and got P0012 and P0022 codes. I took it to Ford and it took about a month and a half to get the truck back. From what I remember they fixed the timing and cam phasers, and I think they may have also replaced the solenoids, but it’s been a while so I don’t remember exactly everything they did.
Fast forward to now, the truck has 101,900 miles on it. I was out of town when the check engine light came on and the truck felt like it went into limp mode. I scanned it and I’m getting the same codes again, P0012 and P0022.
I get regular oil changes and I’m currently about 3,900 miles into my last oil change, which was supposed to be full synthetic, so I’d assume I’m still well within the normal oil life.
My mechanic actually drove out and towed the truck back and checked the oil. He said the oil looked really dirty, which doesn’t make much sense to me considering the mileage since the last change.
I’m mainly trying to figure out why I’d be getting the same timing/phaser related codes again after Ford supposedly fixed that whole system. My mechanic mentioned a few possibilities like maybe the previous owner sludged up the motor, maybe Ford didn’t fix everything properly, or maybe the oil place didn’t actually put full synthetic in it.
