is it weird?

context: i been seeing this guy for about 3 months. in our young 20’s so we’re both still living at home. Anyway, his dad happened to be walking back home. I was parked in front of his home, chatting with the guy i’m dating, his dad walks up to my car, and compliments me on my car. Found it normal, had small talk, and then he finished the conversation like “well you really do have a nice car, now i know i can not to hit on you” is that fucking weird?? or am i over reacting.
