Advice on what to do and possible actions I can take (Chesapeake VA)

Discussion

My s/o and I moved the VA and got a 3 bedroom apartment with two roommates who are also a couple. The lease for the 3 bed was supposed to be up end of January so I started touring beginning of November. I started with different units and went over pricing with the office. They gave me a pamphlet of the units we would be getting and a monthly rent price. I was deciding between a 1 bedroom with sunroom for $1640 a month or a 2 bedroom for $1735. I was leaning towards the 1 bed and the office lady said that it’s available now and that they can’t hold the units. So we tried to rush and get everything transferred over.

This was before our roommates decided to stay with the apartment so they were thinking we’d have to stay til lease was up. And the leasing office was thinking that it would be breaking contract or leaving them with all of the rent to pay. BUT they went with a two bedroom and it was both of us transferring so it basically voided the three bedroom lease. Apparently that’s the first time ever that two different couples decided to transfer within the same apartment. So drafting that transfer took the whole month of November, and then we didn’t even get to sign a lease till December 12 because it still was not ready.

They had let us move in December 8 so we got to sign our actual lease agreement the 12th. We were already moved in by the time signing ways, going over the digital lease agreement. The rent was set at $1725 for the one bed with sunroom even tho we had toured and were told $1640 which was my deciding factor to save some money. I marched right to the office and asked them about it that rent price.Mind you they said that our unit was supposed to be the last unit available. With the sun room and that’s why we rushed. When going to the office they said that we got a different unit with a courtyard view and storage closet. A week later the claim my unit doesn’t have a closet and I sure as hell don’t have a courtyard view. I’m viewing the parking lot.

Time jump to January because we are out of town for most of December I go into the office and ask about the security deposit and they claimed that they were still going over the unit what not. In February I go back in and ask about the security deposit once more. And she gave me a couple of excuses being utilities, took out all of that money. And then the final one being it looks like you were charged twice I’ll have to view the ledger. And also since I was there, I asked her about my courtyard view because I have a view of the parking lot. So she pulls up my apartment profile and she says yeah mine doesn’t have a courtyard view, but it did in fact does have a storage closet. This has been three weeks ago🙃.

It’s now march and still don’t know about the security deposit still don’t have my keys to a storage closet. I’m supposed to have because it’s on my unit description.
