universal lag problem (Bedrock on Xbox)
My forever world has started lagging constantly, and I don't know how to fix it. I'm not sure when it started. I quit this world around Christmas time to do a fresh speedrun with all the new updates, but now that that's done I've come back to my forever world to find lag everywhere. I don't think the lag was there a few months ago before I started the speedrun, but I also wasn't doing any big building projects back then, so I'm not 100% sure.
I started this world in 2022 on my Xbox Series S. It's currently 780 MB in size. I've had various lag problems in the past, especially around my home base (mostly from too many machines and entities), but I redesigned everything last year to solve all those problems.
The weird part is that this lag is EVERYWHERE. I've dealt with my fair share of lag in the past. Before I knew about most of the common sources of lag, my main base area was a disaster. But in the past, even when my base was bad, I could get the lag to go away if I went somewhere else. That's how I knew I had to redesign everything in the first place.
This time is different, though. The lag follows me wherever I go. It's not super bad. Just a slight delay when I open chests or mine a block or place a block. For the most part I hardly notice. When I'm trying to build something fast and laying down blocks as I run, however, that no longer works. If I walk sideways and hold down the mouse button to try to place a bunch of blocks in a row, about half of the blocks won't be placed.
Like I said, I'm really stumped. Was there an update recently that changed things? Does anyone else know what might cause universal lag no matter where I go? I'm open to all ideas.
