Alcoholism is a much more prevelant, and more destructive disease than addiction to nicotine. Why does our government advertise free methods for the latter, but nothing for the former?

Health & Medical

I understand them putting money into getting people to stop smoking. It will save on medical bills for long term smokers.

Long-term alcoholics, or people who drink much more alcohol than they should, is far more detrimental to their health.

Why is there nothing more than taxing the product, and putting a "Drink Aware" line at the end of an ad?

Is it because it would screw up our "brand" worldwide?? Probably!!

If there was something proper set up for people addicted to alcohol, I for one, would use it.

I'm aware of the crisis lines, mainly manned by voluntees. I'm aware of the useless "charities" that the government subsidise.

I use alcoholism as an example, as I am familiar with it, and most Irish families are too.
