How difficult is it for a Chinese student to get into Oxford for Mathematics?
I’m a G11 student from China and I’m interested in applying to Oxford for Mathematics in the future. I know that the admission process is extremely competitive, but I’m trying to understand how difficult it realistically is for international students, especially Chinese applicants.
I’m particularly curious about a few things:
- How competitive Chinese applicants usually are compared to UK applicants
- How important the MAT/TMUA and interviews are in the selection process
- Whether studying in China (rather than the UK system like A-levels) makes the process harder
If anyone here has experience applying to Oxford Maths, or knows Chinese students who were admitted, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or advice.
Thanks!
