-
Hosea: “Come, Let Us Return to the Lord” Hosea speaks to a wounded people, and his words echo into our own lives: • “He has torn us, but He will heal us.” • “He has struck us, but He will bind our wounds.” • “He will revive us… He will raise us up.” God desires mercy, not sacrifice— relationship, not ritual. Our love may be like “morning mist,” but God’s love is steadfast. Lent invites us to return to Him with sincerity, trusting His healing.
-
Psalm 51: The Prayer of a Contrite Heart The psalmist cries: • “Wash me from my guilt.” • “Cleanse me from my sin.” • “A contrite and humbled heart… You will not despise.” This is the posture God desires: not perfection, but humility. Not performance, but truth of heart.
-
Psalm 95: A Warning and an Invitation Before the Gospel, we hear: “If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts.” God speaks today— in Scripture, in conscience, in silence, in grace. The question is whether we will soften our hearts to listen.

Jesus: The Pharisee and the Tax Collector In the Gospel, Jesus contrasts two prayers: The Pharisee: • Self‑focused • Self‑righteous • Blind to his own need for mercy The tax collector: • Stands at a distance • Cannot lift his eyes • Beats his breast • Prays: “God, be merciful to me, a sinner.” Jesus declares: “This man went home justified.” Why? Because humility opens the door to grace, while pride closes it.
💡 Living the Word Today • Pray honestly: Speak to God from the heart, not from habit. • Choose humility: Let go of comparison and self‑righteousness. • Return to God: Trust His promise to heal and restore. • Listen deeply: Make space to hear His voice today. • Seek mercy: For yourself—and extend it to others.
🙏 Prayer for Today Lord, I return to You with a humble heart. Heal my wounds, cleanse my spirit, and teach me to walk in Your mercy. Make my heart sincere, my prayer honest, and my life a reflection of Your love. Amen.
