Vauxhall/Buick/Opel Insignia 2011 2.0 CDTi Manual - Viewing a 2011 Insignia on Sunday. Seller claims work done on XYZ (details in post) but no service history book. Any tips for verifying these claims while I inspect?

Question

Hello!

I am looking for a cheap runabout motorway cruiser for 12 months and a few 2.0 CDTis 2010-2012 Vauxhall Insignia's stood out to the point I will likely buy one based on my current budget and availability in my country. Decent engine for my needs after some quick research!

I'm getting a great deal from a friend of a friend. I semi trust this relationship and motive for selling, but, the car has no service history as the service book has been lost and apparently done by a local mechanic over the years. Current owner has owned 2011 Insignia since 2017 as confirmed by social media, car history report and personal contacts.

For reference, it has 160,000miles/260,000km on the clock. Don't care about the milage as I expect to take this car to its end of life/upgrade in 12 months, whichever comes first.

Seller claims the following work has been done but not documented:

  • Clutch - Can I confirm this myself without a mechanic?
  • Fly Wheel - Can I confirm this myself without a mechanic?
  • Oil seal in oil pump replaced - Can I confirm this myself without a mechanic?

Claims I probably verify myself/in-person:

  • New disks and brake pads in December 2025 - Will be able to verify this myself in person while inspecting.
  • MOT/NCT/Whatever the regional national safety test is for cars has been passed every year with the exception of bad front tires back in 2016.

Any advice appreciated
