Delaying induction

Has anyone had a baby that came spontaneously? My doctors seem to be on board with waiting until 40 weeks to induce. My average glucose is 97, A1C is 5.2, I’m also 26 y/o. Baby is 59th percentile. I’d prefer not to induce but as we all know there is also a risk of placental failure. Just wondering if your baby did come spontaneously, did you do more NST and BPP testing to make sure baby and placenta were still healthy? I also live 5 minutes from my hospital.
