is it cheating to get handcannon from mercenaries and use exclusive upgrade ticket on it to get infinite ammo early?

Im on chapter 4 trying to speed run through a newgame hardcore playthrough. I got the handcannon from mercenaries and gave it infinite ammo from an upgrade ticket. would you consider that cheating. im really mad at myself i feel like i cheated because i was frustrated at difficulty.
