Finally landed my first survey job! What gear do you recommend?
What's up everybody! Ive been lurking here for years and I just landed my first job as a survey assistant at a mid sized survey/engineering firm. I'm super excited to start because I've been looking to get into this field for about 2 years now.
I'm 32 so I'm starting a bit late, and coming from a construction background (mostly carpentry/masonry the last 5 years), so I'm used to being outside and dirty and getting yelled at.
I'm wondering if you guys could give me some tips for what to expect the first month or so and what kind of gear you guys find useful in the field. I picked up some muck boots and a rain coat today, but wondering if there's anything you guys use daily that I can grab this weekend and show up prepared for Monday.
If it helps, this company does all different types of surveying, and im in the Mid-Atlantic.
Thanks for any help!
