The amount of couch analysts coming out of the woodworks today to hate on Wemby as soon as the NBA dropped their MVP ladder is insane.

Matt Moore —tall man should be blocking shots, not mvp. Matej Sportifo — he’s 111 in minutes played and the spurs are 10-5 in his absence, he doesn’t deserve it. Defense doesn’t count to MVP.

List goes on with horrible takes. This kid is putting up impact from a big we haven’t seen from prime Hakeem and Bill Russell, but that’s not worthy for MVP consideration because Luka scored 51 points against the Bulls.

All I’m getting from these bad takes, are that these “pundits” are generally scared about what could peak Wemby look like and they genuinely weren’t ready for him to be this good this early. They always use the “oh he hasn’t played in the playoffs or he doesn’t have a ring,” argument whenever Wemby is brought up in mvp or player ranking discussions.
