Chinese travel vloggers/tourists with extreme hostility to anyone talking to them. Is this normal?

Travel | 旅行✈️

I sometimes watch Chinese travel vlogs (I use YouTube's translate to understand them) and I've noticed there are a few young Chinese travel vloggers who have this strong aversion to anyone talking to them. It's not the majority of such vloggers, but it's a noticeable minority and I've never seen this with vloggers from other countries (Westerners, Indians, Latinos, etc.)

  • Examples include people on the street saying hello to them, and the vlogger reacts with strong disgust saying things like "These people are wasting my time saying hello to me, from now on I'll ignore everyone". Will then go on a rant asking why people in this country keep saying hello or trying to talk to him and why he perceives it as disrespectful.
  • Abrupt dealings with shopkeepers or restaurant staff. I suspect this is due to fear of being scammed, but sometimes you need to chill out when travelling.

Would you say this is common among some young Chinese people, and if so why? It strikes me as weird because most travel vloggers seem outgoing or at least talk to locals in countries they visit, and it's only Chinese vlogs where I've seen young people express anger at people talking to them or even just saying hello.

FWIW I'm half HK Chinese and I'm just exploring my culture.
