Extreme high temperament
My baby just turned 7 months, and we’ve been doing shift work for 7 months he needs to sleep on us so haven’t even ever been able to sleep with my LO. I have a crib and I removed the 4th bar and it’s pushed up right next to my bed.
I was going to do co sleeping I did my time researching safe sleep 7 etc. but upon trying it, he just can’t… he wakes up every 5 mins despite me being face to face with him. My son will scream for an hour just for a nap in our arms but then will do the same thing if I set him down in the crib.these are inconsolable screams no matter what we do. It’s like he’s terrified of sleep…
We currently have a referral in with a sleep consultant for him, as we believe he has a behavioural issue regarding sleep. And needs serious help.
He gets a nightly bath every night and is in bed almost every night then lotion then white noise then sleep sack then at 7:30 (once in a while 8pm) and in bed meaning in my arms for the whole duration of the night while my partner sleeps. And then when my partner wakes he takes LO and then I sleep.
It’s like my son is NEVER in a deep rem. I want see if sleep training could work despite my son having an extreme temperament… it’s not like anything I’ve ever in my life seen before, what is the best way to gently try sleep training with a baby like this? Or should I just wait for sleep consulting to rule out any sleep disorders? Behaviour disorders?
If I were to try sleep training though what are the best methods that don’t involve CIO…. I know many people do CIO but I just would never go there despite how hard this has been, just me personally. What other gentle methods could I attempt ?
He flails his body non stop in sleep, he’s never slept on his own for more then 5 mins in 7 months span… I’m defeated
I could care less about waking up every few hours with him, that would be a DREAM. I’m more just wanting him to know it’s okay to sleep on his own, and it does not matter to me if he wakes to eat every few hours
I’ve been told a few times that I should wait on attempting sleep training to make sure it’s nothing medical causing this from doctors, but referrals take months
