paid sick leave

So I put in my two weeks about a week ago. I have 37 hours worth of paid sick leave and I want to use some of it on the 16th and 17th. (we are also getting 20+ inches of snow throughout these day) My manager os supposedly trying to get permission to approve this sick leave. (I was just trying to be nice and give them a heads up I was wanting to use some of my sick time) My manager is telling me if it doesn't get approved I will have to come in. Is there anything stopping me from calling in sick the days of? He is making it seem like it's not going to be approved and I'm genuinely over this company and also my manager and basically the entire staff too.
