Social Security

Retirement & Financial Planning

When I was in high school, my economics teacher told the class that social security would not be available when we all were old enough to collect. He suggested to buy as much real estate as we possibly could. I only own one house. The equity is definitely not enough to retire on. Is anyone else concerned about this? I have absolutely no retirement saved. I have been working to pay my mortgage and keep everyone fed. Just wondering if this keeps anyone else awake at night? Will I have to work until I die? Even if I do, will I even be able to afford life? I don’t want to be a burden on my children. I actually want to leave them my house to share. Although they are capable of making money and surviving, they have a mentality that home ownership is unattainable. Sorry I sort of went all over the place with this lol.
