Low morale, less ownership, and high leadership turnover
Hey there, trying to decide what to do next.
I’m on a team that’s had a lot of leadership turnover in less than 4 years (first left company for better opportunity, next was pushed out, next left abruptly under mysterious circumstances, and now we’re led by someone with little/no experience in our area of focus).
Talking with my teammates, morale across the team is low. Leadership at the L10+ is uninspiring and critical of our work without giving any specific strategic guidance on where we should move. And more and more, our priorities are being dictated by another org, and we’re losing ownership of our work as a consequence.
Everyone in my leadership chain is playing the political game, and I find it more difficult to advocate on behalf of my partners/customers and teammates (call it a human flaw raising my voice when I don’t think something’s right or feel someone is being asked something unfairly).
Silver lining - promo is coming through soon and I’ll finally be eligible to look for other roles at my new level. But I really wonder if this is a company that’s worth sticking around for. I know job market is challenging, so wouldn’t leave without a plan, but I can’t imagine putting up with this for very much longer without saying something regrettable.
Anyone else feeling this? And if you’ve made a change recently, any advice?
