Am I being insane or is this kind of condescending? Be honest.

experience/story

I’ve been going to the same dentist for about 8 years now and it’s always been a great experience. I have referred many friends to them because I felt so positively about them. So much so that despite living in downtown of my city, surrounded by dentists, I make the long uber ride out to them and back every 6 months. Now getting to the point, I got new insurance in November so I let them know that when I went in December. They ran my insurance and came back and said I didn’t have dental coverage, I said oh that’s weird? and showed them my plan on my phone that said I had 70% coverage. They asked if it was a new plan and I said yes. They told me that sometimes insurance companies will specifically delay dental benefits because people will sign up, get expensive dental work and cancel. I checked the fine print and sure enough, it said dental wouldn’t kick in until March. They asked if I wanted them to call my insurance and being that it was on me and my fault I said nope! all good! that’s my bad! I will pay out of pocket for this one. So when I went into my checkup I had a small cavity I needed filled and because I was paying out of pocket I asked if I could just get it filled when I come back in March. They said absolutely no problem! So fast forward to now I have my appointment to get my cavity filled, and I get a text from them that says “Hi CarelessPatient (lol), Just a reminder that it is your job and responsibility to know the details of your own insurance information.” And before anyone asks, no it was not an automated message. I was so flabbergasted. I could see if I had made a stink or a scene but I was apologetic, paid out of pocket with 0 complains and I have been going there for years with no issue. Am I crazy for thinking that’s a little condescending? I’m totally open to being told I’m being crazy but it hurt my feelings and honestly made me want to find a new dentist.
