uiuc cs + advertising vs uic cs + design

got into both programs and trying to decide between them. i got 0 financial aid at both schools so tuition will be the same price except at uiuc i will have to pay for housing as well. at uic however i will have to commute everyday for an hour.

i have much more of an art background so im slightly leaning towards uic but i have also had marketing, newspaper, social media experience so i also do have some interest in advertising. i know uiuc has objectively the better cs program but im honestly less interested in cs than both the other fields. thats not to say i hate cs i obviously picked it for a reason.

my plans after graduation would be to work in ux design or research or something human computer interaction related orr something else in a creative field i’m still open to ideas.

i like chicago way more than champaign and ive grown up in the area my whole life and all my family and friends are here but i get the small town appeal of champaign and id lowkey be excited to live on my own for the first time.

in terms of student life, im really not a partier and i don’t drink so i wont be joining greek life or any of that stuff so a party scene really doesnt matter to me. i definitely wanna join clubs though and meet people and have friends lol.

anyways could really use some insight or advice on which way to go, if anyone’s in the cs and advertising program lmk how it is.
