Title: Should I wait until May to apply for G in Ontario with foreign driving experience?

I have a question about the licensing process in Ontario and wanted some advice. I have a driver’s licence from India that was issued on May 15, 2024. I haven’t applied for G1, G2, or G yet in Ontario.

I plan to bring my driver’s licence extract to DriveTest to prove my driving experience. Right now it’s about 1 year and 10 months of experience, but if I wait until May 15, 2026, it will be 2 full years.

From what I understand, if you have 2+ years of foreign driving experience, you may be able to skip G2 and go directly for the G road test after passing the G1 knowledge test.

So my question is:

Is it better to wait until May 15 so I have the full 2 years of experience, or should I go earlier and try to start the process now?

Has anyone been in a similar situation with foreign licence experience?
