Muv/Verano Jacksonville Beach
I’ve been working with a cannabis reviewing company for a few months now and in the process have met quite a few past and current cannabis industry professionals. It started with reviewing bud quality then I just got really interested in the overlap of characters if you will.
This is slightly a warning to all in the cannabis industry to avoid this location in particular - the GM has a long time friendship with her District Manager because they worked together previously at Bealls apparently. A few previous cannabis advisors and managers I interviewed also informed me that largely that because of this the GM has been able to use her role as a “paid retirement” as they describe it.
They have a constant rotating door of AGMs and their third manager which they call Agent in Charge (AIC). Probably one of the most toxic environments I’ve ever interviewed past employees from. One of their higher ups Abir(?) is more or less a ghost presence who emails his wants and wills for the stores out (classic corporate BS) and gets upset when the changes he desires for his personal preferences are not followed to a T.
They used to be owned by Altmed and were bought out by Verano and the care for team members and work/life balance also decreased drastically I had a few former employees confide in me (again, classic corporate bullshit)
Overall if you’re getting started in the cannabis industry in Jacksonville, it would be better to go for almost literally any other place (maybe save for Trulieve and Green Dragon). If you’re a patient, they’re one of the few places to have truly ratio edibles and a wide variety of non-smoking options - a lot of the past team members I spoke to all agreed they had a love for the truly “medicinal” approach and applications. This makes me wonder what there other locations are like and I’m thinking about reaching out to a few of my contacts across FL for any past employees from different regions they can connect me with. Not sure if anyone finds this shit interesting, I just started realizing the cannabis industry is a very small world and there’s a lot of behind the scenes drama all the time.
