Casting Styles: Traditional, Martial, and Blade.
What started out as just an idea to make my main character more unique as a mage, I've developed into different mage fighting styles.
How Mages factor into a combat scenario is just as versatile as the Magic they use, for Mages that participate in combat, there are 3 "Casting Styles" that they usually adopt.
Traditional Casting Style: Your standard backline Mage, focusing exclusively on ranged Magical attacks and using Magic to impede or aid allies. They usually wear little armor to help them stay ahead and away from enemies
Martial Casting Style: these Mages interweave hand to hand combat with their Magic, alternating as the situation needs, one minute they could be in the backline flinging spells and the next they could be helping the warriors charge and break the enemy line. They usually wear lighter armor to maintain speed but also be ready for melee combat if the situation needs it.
Blade Casting Style: a relatively new style, these Mages focus almost exclusively on melee blade focused combat and use their Magic to augment it, such as coating their blades in a Time Magic aura that accelerates time, thereby allowing their swords to "slice" through anything, or using Gravity Magic to increase the weight of their blade as they perform an overhead attack to increase speed and damage.
