Driving Avis rental from US to CAN

Hi all! I'm planning on renting a car (from Avis) in May at the Detroit airport then driving it to Canada for a few days. I've heard I need to get a yellow insurance card, is that something I need to call ahead for? Or should I just ask for it when I pick up at the counter? Any insight/experience is appreciated! ☺️
