D&E “is a love that was begun before the world was “. Isn’t it wonderful to read D&E fall in love over and over again in these variations?

Reading

I have just finished reading Only One Choice by Julie Cooper. It’s a very distinct story from canon. In the epilogue, Darcy says “[…] ours is a love that was begun before the world was, and if ever two people were meant to find each other, it is you and me. You always would have become the girl I love so passionately. We always would have chosen each other. We always would have become the miracle we are.”

First of all, Julie Cooper’s writing is fantastic. But most importantly: I just love that we have this timeless love story, that is told over and over and over again, and has been for literally centuries, and never feel tired of it. It is indeed a miracle of Jane Austen’s genius to have created such beloved, realistic, unique characters that can be rewritten and recreated in a thousand different ways, and their love still feels so right.

I feel like we are so privileged to read this love story, arguably the most important romance in literature. That’s it, that’s the post: I am just grateful!

In short, I definitely recommend Julie’s book. It’s fantastic: there is no misunderstanding or third act breakup between D&E. They are mature people who speak very openly with each other. The plot is also very interesting. Love her books!
