WIBTA if I put my name (f) before my husband's name (m) on our thank you notes from the wedding?
So my husband(27M) and I(25F) got married about seven months ago and I still have not sent out thank you cards. It is because it has been pulling teeth to try and get help with the wedding or gushy stuff in general. And literally just that. Dishes, painting walls, curtain rods, building furniture, cleaning bathrooms, bills? Not an issue. ANYTHING related to the wedding or taking pictures is painful to do with him.
I sent him all the wedding photos and asked him to choose a few he likes. Nothing. Asked again. Nothing. I sat him down and we went through them together and his response was basically "whatever you like". He is so smart and capable but pulls the "this is not a man thing" for this. Which is ironic considering he chased a kitten for 2 hours to bring home.
I don't want the rest of my marriage to be like this when it comes to "our" sentimental stuff like pictures, cards, Christmas etc. Me doing everything alone because if I don't, I will never have it.
Also, going into this, my stance was either we both hyphenate our names and/or our kids will have hyphenated names. He is Mexican so this is also normal in his extended family. I feel strongly about my last name and there is no reason I should be the only one to sacrifice and change. He won't commit to a hyphenated last name, so I still have my unaltered last name as well.
This is where I am probably would be the asshole. If I had to plan 95% of the wedding by myself and do the thank you cards by myself, I am putting my first and last name first. Half of my friends think I should, the other half think it would be horrible of me to do.
This is clearly for me and my doing, so why does his name get to go first? If this project was done together, I would have no issues and just put Mr.& Mrs. Last-Names and leave it. I have explained how hurtful it has been to do this alone and it's been apologies with no fix and I can't wait any longer for him to suddenly care.
So WIBTA for putting my name first on the thank you cards?
