Apple Watch plan- separate number?

Looking to add the $10 a month Apple Watch plan to my $40 phone plan. I think it only works if I add a new phone number? is this normal?

It also says I have auto pay enabled so there'll be a $5 discount a month- wondering if people are paying $5 a month for their watch plan?
