Is it possible to have self-hatred as your OCD theme?
For a while now, I’ve thought that my OCD was pretty mild, so mild that I’ve questioned if the diagnosis was accurate at all. But I recently realized that OCD might play a larger role in my mental health than I previously believed. Self-loathing has been a huge issue for me for a long time. When I make mistakes or do something wrong, I ruminate over it heavily.
I’ve tried to use coping strategies like distracting myself or just “letting thoughts pass without judgement”, but those methods haven’t been very effective for me. I recently read an article about how rumination is the compulsion, and something about that statement just clicked for me. However, I’ve never heard of self-loathing itself being a theme. I know that morality is a pretty common thing, and I think morality is somewhat related to my OCD, but it’s not the core of it.
Anyways, I hope that made sense, I feel like a lot of it was kind of just word vomit. I’d love to know what y’all think, if any of y’all have experienced the same/similar, or if you have any advice. Thanks!
