African Grey whisperers, please help!!
Okay so the parrot is my dad's, but im pretty close to him too. Now here's the thing. Whenever he sees me like after a few hours or so, he gets INSANELY animated when I call him over for pets. I mean 'dancing', climbing the cage, his wings start shaking, all that. His cage has gaps in it, and he literally starts sticking his head out of those for pets. Like he gets so animated it's hard to pet him. He even starts softly nibbling his leg??? And curls in on himself (kinda like hiding inside his wings if that makes sense) and then it's repeat. And ofc the soft parrot noises like grunting, clicking his beak, etc. And 90% of the time he tries to regurgitate his food, after which i immediately stop petting him and leave so he doesnt develop the habit.
Now the thing is he only does this with me, like no one else. He is in no way aggressive, has never shown aggression to anyone. When i ask him to step up he will not do that, he asks for pets instead. He literally pushes my hand away when I ask him to step up. He only steps up for my dad. Also, i have never pet him anywhere below the neck. And when i leave HE GOES BACK TO NORMAL?? When someone else is with me he doesnt often go as crazy but when im alone, oh boy. He even swings from one leg.
The only other time i see him act so animated is when there are people conversing in front of him and he tries to join in lol, but it's still not like the way he acts around me.
This has been happening almost everyday for the past year.
Man i dont even know if he's happy or hormonal??
I seriously need to know because man I'm so troubled now, it's been a year and this keeps happening.
