I feel like I (25M) hurt my GF’s (26F) twitch viewership when I play games with her
So, I got my gf of 5 years into pc gaming about a year ago, and we have since spent most of our free time playing competitive games together. It’s probably the best bonding activity we have atm. Some months back though, she wanted to start streaming on twitch and has been for some time now. This is cool, she seems to enjoy it and plus, we both hope that maybe it’ll take off and become a second or even primary source of income for her.
However, I notice that her viewership is higher when she games alone or with some of her friends compared to when she games with me or my friends. This puts me in a tough spot where I feel like I’m sabotaging her by trying to have fun playing games with her like we used to, but on the other hand- that’s basically all she spends her time doing, so if I want to back off and give her the space to stream with a better chance of actually growing her following, then I’d only get like 30 minutes to talk to her before bed. I haven’t brought this up to her, just kind of quietly backed away from our gaming-together time the past week or so, which has led me to notice the spike in viewership when I’m not also on her stream playing with her. What should I do in this situation? Is this something that I should just give her space to do on her own even if it means giving up on this activity we do together?
TL;DR- my gf’s stream does better when I’m not playing with her, but playing games together is basically our only shared hobby and what we spend the majority of our free time doing.
