Why I stopped using 5-gallon jugs and switched to on-site fuel tanks
If you are running a heavy equipment site, you know the "refuel dance." Every morning, someone is late because they are at the gas station filling up cans, or worse, you have a $200k excavator sitting idle because the "fuel run" took an hour. 🚜
I finally partnered with a distributor (Ricochet Fuel) to drop a 1,000-gallon FuelCube on-site. Here is the real-world impact on our last project:
- Labor Savings: We reclaimed about 45 minutes of productive time per operator, per day.
- Fuel Security: No more "missing" fuel or unauthorized personal fill-ups. Every drop is logged.
- Tax Benefits: We started using dyed diesel for the off-road gear. If you are using clear diesel for excavators, you are essentially donating tax money to the government for no reason.
The delivery is automated now they monitor the tank levels and fill us up before we even notice we are low. Has anyone else moved to on-site tanks? I am curious if you prefer renting the tanks or buying them outright for long-term projects. 🏗️
