MacBook Pro M2 14" 2023 Speaker Hardware Problem
Hi all,
I'm attempting to seek advice regarding a likely hardware failure of the speaker on the left side of my MBP (closer to ESC key). I've noticed recently that this speaker seems to be rattling/cracking when the volume is set to approximately half of the maximum or higher. It is most affected by deeper/bass sounds. The issue disappears when using headphones, indicating a potential hardware issue. The right side speaker is fine, and I have confirmed in Settings that the sound is balanced equally between L and R. I purchased this product new from an Apple store on 15 Aug 2023. It has therefore been over two years since purchase.
I have arranged to have my MBP diagnosed by Apple in store, which I've been told will be free of charge, but I am unsure if I am still covered by the Australian Consumer Law after more than two years from the time of purchase for any free repairs/replacements for minor or major issues. I'm also trying to determine if this is considered a major or minor issue. Has anyone had any recent experiences similar to this, and if so, what would the good people of Reddit recommend? Any and all help would be seriously appreciated.
Addendum 1:
I also noticed a small white pixel in the middle of my screen when turning the MBP on, more than 12 months ago but had no idea about ACCC and the Australian Consumer Law back then, and it somehow disappears after about 5 seconds. Hopefully nothing serious.
Addendum 2:
I'm very open to the idea of a replacement MBP, and would be willing to return this MBP and pay the (hopefully not too large) difference to receive a newer model. I was offered $600 trade-in for my MBP (originally $3829 with upgraded RAM) through Apple online. That's a ludicrous offer.
