DaVinci Resolve Studio 20.3.2 segfault on startup — RX 6700 XT, Linux Mint 22.2
Sup gang, I keep getting a consistent segfault at GPUDetect on every time I launch which is preventing me to even get to the edit page. I tried to follow hlacik's guide from 2 years ago but it has not worked for me. System:
OS: Linux Mint 22.2 GPU: AMD RX 6700 XT (gfx1031) CPU: AMD 7700x with integrated Radeon graphics (gfx1036) Kernel: 6.8.0-85-generic Ram: 32gb of ram Vram: 10gb
(Note: Windows version works fine but Davinci is the only app holding me back from removing my windows drive)
OpenCL setup:
Installed via sudo amdgpu-install --usecase=opencl --no-dkms Key packages installed: rocm-opencl, rocm-opencl-runtime, rocm-llvm, hsa-rocr clinfo confirms RX 6700 XT (gfx1031) detected and available under AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing platform with OpenCL 2.0 User added to render and video groups
Installation: Tried both the official .run installer with SKIP_PACKAGE_CHECK=1 and MakeResolveDeb 1.8.3. Same crash with both. Disabled the three bundled glib libraries as recommended for Linux installs.
The crash and things im stuck on: Resolve opened successfully once on the very first launch showing the screen that says what keybinds i want and showing features screen. I eventaully got to the part where it start and click it and never got father than that. Log always cuts off at: GPUDetect | INFO | Starting GPUDetect 1.2_9-a4
Things I tried:
ROCR_VISIBLE_DEVICES=0 to force gfx1031 over the integrated gfx1036 DRI_PRIME=1 Wiping ~/.local/share/DaVinciResolve/ entirely and relaunching
None of these changed anything. Question: Is rocm-opencl-runtime the wrong OpenCL stack for the RX 6700 XT on Ubuntu/Mint? I've seen mentions that opencl-amd works better for this card but that appears to be Arch-only.
