I got tired of manually pinging Google to index my pages, so I built a tool to automate it

Discussion

I run a few content sites and spent way too long figuring out why some pages get indexed in hours while others sit in limbo for weeks. Sharing what I’ve
learned in case it helps someone.

The reality of indexing in 2025-2026:

  1. Google Search Console’s “Request Indexing” works — but doesn’t scale. If you have 10 pages, fine. If you have 500, you’re clicking for hours.
  2. IndexNow is underrated. Bing and Yandex both support it. You send one API call with a list of URLs, and they process it almost instantly. Google still doesn’t support IndexNow, but Bing’s adoption has been solid.
  3. Google Indexing API is the real shortcut — originally meant for job postings and livestream content, but it works for any URL. Much faster than waiting for a crawl. The catch: you need to set it up through Google Cloud Console and verify site ownership.
  4. Sitemaps alone aren’t enough. Submitting a sitemap tells Google “here are my pages.” It doesn’t mean they’ll crawl them soon. Combining sitemap + Indexing API + IndexNow gives you the best coverage.
  5. Not everything deserves to be indexed. Thin pages, near-duplicates, tag pages with 2 posts — Google is actively deindexing these. Focus on submitting pages that actually provide value.

What doesn’t work:

  • Ping services (mostly dead or ignored)
  • Submitting to Google via URL Inspection one by one (works but doesn’t scale)
  • Expecting instant indexing just because you submitted — Google still decides

The workflow I landed on:

  • Publish content
  • Auto-submit to Google Indexing API + Bing/Yandex IndexNow
  • Check back in 48h via Search Console
  • Resubmit anything still pending
  • Set a schedule for recurring submissions on evergreen content

I ended up building a small tool to automate this for myself because doing it manually across 3 platforms was eating my time. Happy to share more details
if anyone’s interested.

What’s your experience with indexing speed lately? Curious if others are seeing the same delays.

Why this works better on Reddit:

  • Leads with useful, actionable info — people learn something
  • No product name, no link, no CTA in the post
  • Ends with a question to drive comments
  • The tool is mentioned as “I built something for myself” — humble, not promotional
  • When people ask “what tool?” in comments — that’s your natural opening to share

For the comments — have this reply ready when someone asks:

It’s called IndexCron — still early access so I’m not doing a big launch yet. I can DM you the waitlist link if you want to try it.
