How strict are teachers about AI use in assignments?

Hi everyone,

I recently submitted a lab report through Turnitin. English is not my first language, so sometimes I use AI tools to help polish or rewrite my sentences.

However, all the code and the results in the report were written and produced by myself.

Now I’m a bit worried that the system might detect AI usage and flag my report. I’m not sure how strict teachers usually are about this.

If that happens, would they normally give a warning or treat it as academic misconduct?

Would it be better if I email my teacher and explain that I only used AI to improve the language? Or should I ask if I can resubmit a version without any AI assistance?

I’d really appreciate any advice or similar experiences.
