**Conan Exiles would instantly Black Screen of Death when I clicked Launch in the Conan launcher**.

The crash seems to have been caused by a **kernel driver conflict between Focusrite audio drivers and NVIDIA audio drivers**.

**I'm running a Focusrite 16i16 gen 4.**

On my system I had multiple audio drivers installed:

* Focusrite USB Audio
* Focusrite USB MIDI
* NVIDIA High Definition Audio
* NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device
* other virtual devices

**AI Says:** When Conan starts, Unreal Engine **enumerates audio devices during initialization**. The **Focusrite driver and NVIDIA HD Audio driver conflict**, which corrupts kernel memory and triggers the BSOD.

# Fix

**First thing to try is upgrade your Focusrite drivers.**
If this does fix it - try the following -

Open **Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers**.

Disable these:

    Focusrite USB MIDI
    NVIDIA High Definition Audio
    NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device

If you have more unused audio devices and the crash keeps happening, try disabling those too.

Leave enabled:

    Focusrite USB Audio

Then **restart your PC**.

For me, after doing this, the **BSOD completely stopped**.
The crash wasn't happening with other Unreal games like PalWorld - it was exclusive to Conan, but maybe this will help you with other games causing the same thing.

Try also verify game file integrity, reinstall battle eye and check your GPU drivers are up to date - maybe a fresh reinstall of that too.

Good luck!

Hope this helps.
