Needing advice from previous transfer students
So, I’m currently a first-year at CC with plans to transfer to the University of Washington for biology. I’m honestly feeling really discouraged right now because I didn’t do well in one of my chem classes and I’m going to have to retake it.
I think what’s bothering me the most is that I’m already at the community college level, and needing to retake a class is really messing with my class sequence and my motivation. Since these classes build on each other, it means everything is getting pushed back, and I feel like I’m falling behind.
It’s also making my anxiety about transferring a lot worse. I keep feeling like my GPA isn’t going to be good enough and that I’m not doing enough to be a competitive applicant (clubs, internships, etc.). I was also rejected from UW Seattle when I applied as a first year, so transferring has kind of become my second chance and it means a lot to me.
For people who transferred to UW from community college (especially for STEM):
- What was your GPA when you got accepted?
- Did anyone else have to retake a class or take longer than expected?
- How many credits did you have when you applied?
I’d really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences because right now it just feels like I’m messing everything up, and the anxiety about it has been really overwhelming.
