Retail bank employee under investigation for policy violations — not sure what the consequences might be

I work part-time at a large retail bank in a customer-facing role. Recently I was told that there are a few allegations against me related to internal policy compliance, and I’m really worried about what might happen.

Issue 1 – Second job disclosure

I have another part-time job outside the bank. When I was hired, I mentioned it during the recruitment process and again to my supervisor and branch manager. They told me it was fine because there was no conflict of interest. I even checked again after my probation period and was reassured that it wasn’t an issue.

Now I’m being told that I may not have completed the proper disclosure paperwork that employees are supposed to sign for outside employment.

Issue 2 – Accessing client information

Another concern raised is that I accessed some client profiles in the internal system without the clients physically present.

I’m fairly new in the role and at the time I thought I was allowed to review potential offers or pre-approvals for people who were interested in banking products. A mutual acquaintance had said some people might be open to being contacted about financial products and shared their contact details with me. I looked up their profiles to see whether there were any offers available before reaching out.

Later there was unrelated personal conflict between some of the people involved, which escalated into a serious situation outside of work. Law enforcement got involved, and things became very messy. Now one of those individuals has apparently complained about me accessing their profile.

Issue 3 – Helping a family member with banking

Another allegation is that I accessed a family member’s account while working. In one instance I helped deposit a cheque and transfer funds with their permission. In another instance I assisted them with withdrawing funds using their card/PIN while they weren’t physically present. I believed I had informal approval from a supervisor at the time for at least one of those situations.

I’m trying to understand how serious situations like this usually are in retail banking.

Has anyone seen similar internal investigations? What are the typical outcomes (warning, suspension, termination, etc.)?

I’m honestly stressed and trying to understand what to expect.
